"Fluid" motion problem...Should I repack the grease on my Manfrotto 701hdv head?

I have used my new Manfrotto video head since December. There is an area about 1/4 of the turning radius where the "fluid" motion goes away and my video camera flies around the tripod. I pulled it apart and noticed some grease in there. I put just a little bit of vaseline around the larger outer part of the spindle and it works a little better. I am thinking of repacking all of the lubricant...Has anyone done this to their tripod heads with good results? I called Manfrotto and it would take 7-10 days just to look at it....I use it almost daily and can't afford a new one. Any ideas before I pack it with vaseline? Thanks!
