Playing movies through PS3?

Ok, so im going off to college in a few months and my college does not allow the use of bittorents, torrents, or any other "Illegal" downloading software (Obviously). Currently i'm using Vuze (Which sucks cuz its really choppy when it plays movies) to download and play my movies with. What i want to know is is there a way to play the movies through an ethernet type hookup to my playstation from my macbook, if not is there a wireless program i can use to stream the movies (that will also prevent the choppy/skippiness) from my laptop to the Playstation that isnt deemed illegal by college campuses.
