Help with playstaton2 game!!!?

Just bought a Laura Croft game and dying to play it...Only thing is the playstation wont work...First of all I have turned it on cause I can see the blue and green light....Not sure which station the tv needs to be on though....Could it be that this console is so old it just up and quite working??? I sure hope not! HELP! Die heart Laura Croft fan!!!
