Elfen Lied: Discs on one spindle?

Okay, so I bought the Complete Collection of Elfen Lied (even though I heard people complaining about the discs being on one spindle). I thought I might have problems with the discs falling off of the spindle and breaking...but actually, it's too tight rather than loose. It's extremely difficult for me to pry them off of the spindle...and since there's nothing behind them (you know, with all the empty space and all), I have to bend the disc to get it to come out. Obviously, that doesn't seem like a good way to do it; at this rate, I'll break the discs within a day. I feel like an idiot for asking this, but is there a trick to getting the discs off the spindle without bending them?
