Can a threaded spindle be used in a sealed mid bottom bracket?

I have a crankset that i was running with an unsealed american bottom bracket, however i bought a new frame that requires a mid bottom bracket. I was wondering if the threaded spindle could be used in a sealed mid bottom bracket, or whether i have to buy a new spindle.
